If you have been alive for the past 50 years or so, you know what a Pez dispenser is. You know, one of those plastic things with popular characters’ faces on them filled with candy. Also, the candy itself tastes really good, containing a unique flavor. And guess what? An animated Pez movie is in production. It’s still in the very early stages, so there is no release date.
“We’ve created a world unique to Pez and a story that will touch the hearts of many,” said EMA CEO and founder Lee Nelson, who is behind production of the film. Try to imagine a unique Pez world.
There are a few questions I must address. What Pez dispensers will be used in the film? Will they be licensed or unlicensed characters? After all, if there is a popular franchise, no matter what, it will have a Pez dispenser. Legend of Zelda? They have a Pez. Dreamworks’ Monsters vs. Aliens? Same. So who will be used in the film? Maybe original Pez dispensers will star exclusively in the movie.
Another question I’d like to address: how will the dispensers move around? They don’t really have feet, so would they hobble around from place to place. That might become tiresome for the animators and the audience. If the filmmakers can fluidly and successfully pull off motion, I’d be impressed.
I am not particularly upset about this Pez movie, I just feel indifferent about it. After all, The Lego Movie was great, so why can’t the Pez movie do it too?
